Cookie Notice
This notice explains the cookies and similar technologies used on wisam.app. The short answer: Wisam sets no cookies of its own and runs no advertising or analytics trackers — it keeps a few essential items in your browser's own storage, and a small number of third parties set cookies only to keep the site secure.
1. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small files a website can place on your device. "Similar technologies" include browser local storage and session storage, which let a site remember things between pages or visits. They can be set by the site you're visiting (first-party) or by another service the page loads (third-party).
2. What Wisam uses
Essential — browser storage, not cookies. Instead of its own cookies, Wisam keeps a few small items in your browser's local or session storage. They stay on your device, are never used for cross-site tracking or advertising, and you can clear them at any time:
- Sign-in session — so you stay signed in to your institution account or wallet.
- Language — so pages open in English or Arabic as you last chose.
- Interface preferences — such as whether the admin sidebar is collapsed and which wallet reminders you put off.
- Unsent drafts in the admin (a class list being issued, an email being written), so they survive a reload.
- How you reached a course page (for example a LinkedIn share), kept only for that browser tab and cleared when you close it. It holds no identifier of you.
Third-party, security only. Two providers may set a cookie or read your IP address as a consequence of how a page loads, and only to keep the Service working safely:
- Cloudflare — sets a cookie for its anti-bot challenge shown on signup and login, to tell humans from automated abuse.
- GlitchTip — receives an automatic error report (including your IP address) only if the site crashes in your browser, so we can fix the bug.
We do not use advertising cookies, interest-based advertising, third-party analytics trackers (such as Google Analytics), session-replay tools, or social-media tracking pixels. When you first visit, we show a short notice pointing you to this page; because the only cookies we use are essential or security-related, there is nothing non-essential to turn on or off.
3. Your choices
Most browsers let you see, block, or delete cookies and clear site storage from their settings. You can clear Wisam's stored items there whenever you like. Note that if you block essential storage or the security cookie, parts of the Service may not work — for example you may be signed out, or unable to pass the signup challenge.
