Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Wisam (the "Service"), operated by Wisam.app ("Wisam", "we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself or the organisation you represent, and you confirm you have the authority to do so. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Wisam lets institutions issue, manage, and revoke digital credentials, and lets credential holders collect them in a personal wallet and share a public verification link. Anyone can verify a credential's authenticity without an account. We may add, change, or remove features of the Service at any time.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, including a wallet. If you are under 18, you can't create a wallet, but any credential an institution issues to you stays fully verifiable through that institution without one, and you can open a wallet and claim it once you turn 18. Some features require you to register; when you do, you agree to give accurate, complete information and keep it current.
- You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at security@wisam.app if you believe your account has been accessed without your authorisation.
- Institution admin accounts may have additional users added by a master administrator, who is responsible for those users' access.
- Wallet accounts are personal and not transferable.
3. Institution responsibilities
If you create or manage an institution account, you confirm that:
- you have the right to issue credentials on behalf of the institution you represent;
- you have a lawful basis to submit each credential recipient's personal data to us, including any required parental or guardian consent for minors;
- the credential details you submit (name, course, grade, dates) are accurate to the best of your knowledge;
- any logo, image, or other content you upload is yours to use and does not infringe anyone's rights or break any law.
For institution customers, our handling of recipient data is additionally governed by our Data Processing Agreement, available on request from legal@wisam.app. Our sub-processors are listed at wisam.app/subprocessors.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- issue or claim a credential you know to be false or unauthorised;
- upload or share content that is unlawful, infringing, deceptive, hateful, or that you do not have the rights to;
- attempt to bypass, probe, or interfere with the security of the Service or other users' data;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service, or use it to build a competing product;
- use the Service to collect or process personal data you don't have a lawful basis to handle;
- use automated means to scrape or bulk-extract data from the Service beyond normal use.
We may remove content or suspend access that we reasonably believe breaks these rules, and we may require identity verification after a suspected security incident.
5. Credential accuracy and revocation
Wisam cryptographically signs and timestamps issued credentials but does not independently verify the accuracy of the underlying claim (e.g. that a course was actually completed); that responsibility rests with the issuing institution. Institutions may revoke a credential they issued at any time; a revoked credential is marked as such on its public verification page.
6. Subscriptions and payment
New institution accounts start with a free trial. When the trial ends, issuing new credentials is paused until a paid plan is in place; credentials already issued stay verifiable. Trials may include usage limits, such as a cap on the number of emails sent.
Paid plans and their prices are listed on our pricing page. Prices exclude VAT and other applicable taxes, which are added to your invoice where required. Plans are billed in advance, yearly or monthly, and each plan includes a number of credentials per year. If you reach that number, issuing new credentials pauses until you upgrade or buy additional credentials; verification of credentials already issued is never affected. Credential packs bought separately are valid for 24 months from purchase.
Plans renew automatically for the same period unless you cancel before the renewal date. Fees already paid are non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise. If a payment fails, we may retry and may suspend issuing until it clears. You agree not to initiate a chargeback for fees validly owed; contact us first so we can resolve any billing concern. We may change our prices and the features included in any plan at any time and at our sole discretion. For an active subscription, a change to your recurring fee takes effect at your next renewal, and we'll give you at least 30 days' notice before an increase applies, so you can cancel before it takes effect if you don't accept it; new purchases and add-ons are charged at the price shown at the time of purchase.
Payment processing. Payments for self-serve plans are processed by Stripe. You enter your card details directly with Stripe; Wisam never receives or stores your full card number. By starting a plan, you authorise us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method the plan fee and applicable taxes now and at each renewal until you cancel. Prices are shown in US dollars, UAE dirhams or Saudi riyals, and you are charged in the currency shown at checkout; any conversion or bank fees your card issuer applies are yours. You're responsible for keeping your billing details, including any tax registration number, accurate. Your use of Stripe is also subject to Stripe's own terms and privacy policy.
Changing or cancelling a plan. You can change plan, update your payment method, download invoices and receipts, or cancel at any time under Settings → Billing. When you change plan mid-period, the difference is prorated and charged or credited on your next invoice. When you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for and does not renew; after that, issuing new credentials pauses and credentials already issued stay verifiable. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it over the following days; if it still can't be collected, issuing new credentials pauses until the payment clears or you pick a plan again.
Enterprise plans, discounts and any other custom terms are agreed in a quote or order form, which forms part of these terms and prevails over this section where the two differ.
7. Support
We provide support for the Service to institution and wallet account holders at hello@wisam.app. If you received a credential from an institution and have a question about the credential itself — its content, whether you qualify, or a correction — that is for the issuing institution, since they decide what they issue. If an institution is unresponsive and the matter concerns our platform, you may contact us and we will help where we reasonably can. We have no obligation to provide any particular level or response time of support except as agreed in a paid plan or order form.
8. Intellectual property and feedback
We own the Wisam platform, branding, and software. You retain ownership of the content and data you submit (institution branding, credential content). You grant us a licence to host, process, and display that content as necessary to operate the Service. During a free trial, and on plans where it applies, the Service and credential pages may show a "Powered by Wisam" mark; paid plans may remove it where the plan allows.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use it for any purpose without attribution. Please don't send feedback you consider confidential.
9. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party providers (for example, hosting, email delivery, payment processing, and anti-bot protection) and may link to third-party sites. We don't control those services and aren't responsible for them; your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy practices. The providers that process personal data on our behalf are listed at wisam.app/subprocessors.
10. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Wisam and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, and reasonable costs or legal fees arising out of (i) the credentials or content you issue, submit, or upload; (ii) your use of the Service; (iii) your breach of these terms; or (iv) your violation of any law or of anyone's rights. We may assume control of the defence of any such claim at your expense, and you agree to cooperate. You won't settle any claim in a way that imposes an obligation on us without our prior written consent. This section survives termination.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. You are responsible for keeping your own copies of any data you need; while credentials are designed to remain verifiable, no online service is guaranteed to be permanent.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law: (a) Wisam will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or lost data, arising from or related to these terms or your use of (or inability to use) the Service; and (b) our total liability for all claims arising under these terms is capped at the greater of (i) USD 100 and (ii) the total fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. The existence of more than one claim does not increase this cap. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
13. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, or that poses a security or legal risk, and will give notice where reasonable. When an institution account ends (including a trial that is not converted to a paid plan), you may request an export of your data within 30 days, after which we delete your account data. Credentials you have already issued remain publicly verifiable, because recipients rely on them, unless you ask us in writing to revoke or delete them. Sections 3, 4, 8, 10, 11, 12, and 14–16 survive termination.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We'll update the date at the top of this page, and for material changes we'll make reasonable efforts to notify account holders by email or a notice in the Service. Your continued use after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Before starting any formal proceedings, you agree to first contact us at legal@wisam.app and give us 30 days to try to resolve the matter informally. Any dispute not resolved that way will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the United Arab Emirates, except that either party may seek urgent injunctive relief to protect its intellectual property or confidential information in any court of competent jurisdiction.
16. General
These terms (together with the Privacy Policy, any Data Processing Agreement, and any order form or quote) are the entire agreement between you and Wisam about the Service, and replace any earlier understanding. If any provision is found invalid, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the rest stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these terms without our prior written consent; we may assign them freely, for example in a merger or sale of our business. By using the Service you agree to receive communications from us electronically (by email or notices in the Service), which satisfy any legal requirement for written notice. You agree not to use the Service in breach of applicable export-control or sanctions laws.
